Who am I?
My name is Laura Woolthuis (1989). I have a BA in History and an MA in American Studies at the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands). Since 2015 I've worked in several functions in the publishing world, but in 2021 I decided to start my own company as a freelance translator and editor.

Words were my first love
I love words. Words are real game changers. They can either make or break your meaning. Imagine if Mr. Darcy decided not to add the word ardently to his famous love declaration to Elizabeth Bennett or even left it open for interpretation? 'You're kinda nice and you don't look bad either' somehow doesn't have the same ring to it. Or if dr. King had changed the title of his speech to 'I have been contemplating'. Not as powerful as the original. Or if Marie Antoinette had said: 'Let them eat onion soup'. Doesn't work quite as well, does it?
Words are everything.
Sesquipe- what now?!
What does the word Sesquipedalious actually mean?
Well, it's a play on the word Sesquipedalianism.
And a person who is being sesquipedalian is someone who likes to use unnecessarily long and obscure words in speech or writing. Which is of course fairly ironic. And for me, that's just pure magnificence.
Words are amazing.
